I just found this Beliefnet article looking at some of the spiritual and religious trends that have shaped pop culture over the last 10 years.
It includes things like the Harry Potter and Twilight phenomena’s, the George W Bush administration, and celebrities sporting religious tattoos (i.e. Britney’s misspelled Kabbalah and Angelina Jolie’s Buddhist text tattoos).
It also looks at the importance of films like Mel Gibson’s The Passion, The Da Vinci Code and The Chronicles of Narnia and TV series like The Book of Daniel , Crossing Over, Lost and many more. And of course there are the celebrities of Scientology and celebrity clerics (I guess in Australia we have Father Bob?).
The list is very American focused so what do you think are some of the trends that have shaped religious pop culture in Australia in the last decade?
How about Make Poverty History and Make Indigenous Poverty History armbands?
Saying sorry?
The Cronulla race riots?
The Boxing Day Tsunami?
And who would be our UCA celebrity clerics?
